To be raised in the south is a privilege. It means many things, but to me it has meant a love of all things preppy and classic, Lilly, Pearls, bows, ribbons, and the color pink. Graciousness is key, and one never leaves home without a little make up.

After Christmas Shopping!!!

Oh how I adore hitting up the Christmas sales... perhaps the best part about knowing that Christmas is over--knowing I can score some major deals at the sales!  I haven't found too much this year.  A plaid wool skirt at the gap that is O.K... and a lavender polo at RL outlet.  I went in search of pants... Jeans, chinos, cords.  And am wondering if I should give up on jeans altogether since none I tried fit very well.  Thoughts?

Also there are things I don't really need that I'd like to spend my X-Mas money on...

I think I'm becoming addicted to Kiel James Patrick Products... This is from the new archer wraps collection in "Lelslile Tartan" and I think it's absolutely adorable!!  I know I don't need it... in fact Michael got me TWO bracelets and a headband for Christmas!!

See?  And I LOVE these and have been wearing them daily.  Previously I just had the bracelet with pink elephants on it, and the earrings to match.  But I adore nearly every KJP Bracelet, headband, and belt... and really appreciate those adorable clip on earrings they just released... ADDICTION!!!

Another thing I dearly want is a pair LL Bean duck boots.  I have a pair made my sperry, but they are just not the same!  They are plaid, and difficult to match with things I find.  I am torn between wanting the moccasins or the 6 inch boots...

So freaking cute.  I don't know how practical they are in the winter time, but either way these boots are ICONIC!  And I need a pair very very soon.

XX,
Brooke

  1. I have Duck Boot mocs on order with LL Bean. Should be here fairly soon. I got a pair of blucher mocs for Christmas, but I already own a pair in really good condition, so I've decided to trade them out.

I'm debating what I want to get from Kiel. I'm thinking one of his bow ties; I'm not much of a bracelet guy, but I'm working on my own DIY offerings with sailing line- we'll see where it goes.

  2. Oh yes, I was very interested in purchasing some for my boyfriend for x-mas, alas all in his size would not be available until january. Why did you go for Mocs? I'm curious as to how you will like them!! And I like the blucher mocs, I have wondered if I could pull them off as a girl. What will you trade them for?

And alas, Michael won't do a bracelet either. I think Kiel really makes them look fantastic but perhaps it's hard to venture out?! I love the bow ties, I will probably order him one very soon. He also loves the rope belts, do you like those?

  3. I will be trading the blucher mocs for the duck boot mocs, actually. You have the order the replacement, then send the other back. It's called Bean's "QuickOrder" system or something.

I went with the mocs as opposed to the half or full boots because the mocs are the same price as the blucher mocs, making it an even trade, and therefore significantly easier. However, the duck boot mocs are a better value in general because they are still made in Maine. The blucher mocs used to be made in Maine, then they moved to El Salvadore (where the pair I have were made), and finally the newest ones are made in China. Bean still has a number of great offerings made in the USA or in the countries of origin (like the norwegian sweater is still made in Norway), but you have to really read the fine print!

I Like Kiel's rope belts, but I think I like his Paytons better.

  4. Oh, and Lisa Birnbach featured an illustration of a pair of blucher mocs on a prep school girl in the Preppy Handbook, so yeah, I'd say you're covered.

  5. Oh I see. Yes, I love that they are still made in maine. I adore that about my boat and totes and think of it often when I use them. I appreciate that Bean does still make a few things where they should be made... that's a big part of why I like LL Bean. And yes, the Paytons are nice, quite pricey but very nice.

I think I remember that illustration...in the OPHB? I need to go look through that again. Thanks for reminding me!
