To be raised in the south is a privilege. It means many things, but to me it has meant a love of all things preppy and classic, Lilly, Pearls, bows, ribbons, and the color pink. Graciousness is key, and one never leaves home without a little make up.

GH Bass (a new love!) + a bit about me

I first remember hearing of GH Bass in relation to Bass Weejuns.  My parents both wear Weejuns, and I remember thinking that they looked very nice, and confusing the brand a bit with the outdoor/hunting Bass brand.  I thought of Bass Weejuns again when reading True Prep, and first getting into preppy blogs last year around this time.  Just prior to that, my friend gave me a book: I <3 Your Style, How to Define and Refine Your Personal Style by Amanda Brooks.  I really enjoyed reading this book and truly considering what my personal style actually was.  Everything Brooks listed as Classic I loved (Blue Blazers, white OCBD, shift dresses, fair isle sweaters, sweater sets, etc) this was what I liked.  After identifying strongly with this style, and realizing I also enjoy the more extreme of classic: prep.  I enjoy bright colors, pink and green paired together, pearls, pearls, pearls, and bows.  Once I realized this I sought to eliminate other influences.  Purging my closet of unworthy articles, and trying new things, and often, new brands!  For instance, I wear a number of things from LL Bean now, and previously I had forgotten about it since my days of ordering uniform clothes from there.

Most recently my new brand love is GH Bass!  There is a bass outlet here in Charlotte!  And boy does it have fabulous prices!  Located right near carowinds in a shopping center I had never explored.  Very near to Michael's house, it was once the main source of their shoes, forgotten for years, his parents rediscovered it in time for Christmas.  I received an adorable blue argyle sweater and these:

I think they're pretty cute, and very comfortable.  The fleece is super soft and cozy around my ankles, and worn under pants on a cold day they add a little extra warmth.  In general they are just solid well made shoes, something I don't have too much off, I feel.  So I ventured to the outlet to see what I could find.

My very own weejuns!  At first I felt they were a little masculine, but that may just be the nature of these sorts of shoes.  I wore them today with a simple outfit of Jeans, a red plaid shirt (also from Bass) and camel sweater.  I enjoyed them a lot and wish I had snapped a photo of the outfit (but I am not one to often do that, perhaps I should get in the habit as that is popular among blogs...)

Sweaters I found at GH Bass, for crazy prices of twenty or under.  All marked down from 69.00+ and they are comfortable, and seem to be made well.  I was happy to advance my sweater collection.

Vintage Dooney bag I'm carrying!  Borrowed from my future MIL, and I adore it.  Inspired to wear vintage dooney by the one and only Sarah Vickers (of KJP) and boy have I gotten loads of compliments.

Preppy Gift Ideas:

Do you have a Prep in your life who you still need to find the perfect Christmas gift(s) for?  Or perhaps you are just curious as to what gifts Preps like to receive... Anyway, here are a few options at a reasonable price point...

For Mens:

LL Bean Fleece Lined Slippers.

These slippers are at the top of my list, because I think they are Michael's favorite gift from me ever.  He would not stop raving about them and I gave them to him in the beginning of November.  The best part is that he can even wear them out and about... they don't look very slipper like!  At 39.95 They are a very reasonable gift, that will last far longer than cheaper attempts.

A Tie.

This is easy.  Preppy men love ties.  They accessorize far better than regular men... and need many ties for many occasions.  This is a classy looking tie, perhaps a bit springy, but I'd want to wear it if it were me... This one is from my favorite Kiel James Patrick.

Here's a little gender neutral gift option that's sure to please any prep on your list.  In fact, Michael's brother got this for me for my birthday!  I LOVE IT.  How funny and cute, it can be found at Vineyard Vines.

I will provide more gift ideas soon!!!

Brooke

It's been a while...

It's certainly been a while since I've thought about Blogging... various excuses can explain this I suppose, not feeling well for long periods of time tends to keep one from thinking of doing "Fun" things... never the less, here I am!  Other than being sick life's been pretty good, I bought a new car a few weeks ago which has been such a nice change for me (I drive around 50 miles a day on average).  It's worth it to have a car you like and enjoy driving, really makes a day so much more pleasant!  I'll have to post some photos of it :)
Oh and I finally got an IPHONE!  How I lived life without it is a mystery to me...

Also, the fact that Lilly only makes cases for IPhone is part of my happiness with the phone too, I won't lie.  Makes me smile every time I pick up the phone!!!  But anyway, enough about all this, on to some preppy style for the colder weather that has finally made it's way to NC.  First are some looks I like, then some looks I'm rocking myself.

I'm like the sweater selection (some) at LL Bean Signature.  I've yet to order anything from then yet due to price, but there may be some items going on my X-Mas list this year!!

Liking this Plaid skirt!  Paired with a turtleneck could be adorable for holiday parties!  Very cute, I need to find something similar very soon!

Seems Like a warm and festive top to wear around the holidays.

This is a cute bag to tote around while traveling!

Personally there's a few go to looks I adore for winter:

VESTS.  I adore vests, I especially love these ones from LL Bean (this one and a brown one) and at 29.95 they are very reasonable and I will probably order two more because I'm always wearing them.  I get cold often but find that Jackets needs to be removed more often then a vest... Also they layer so well!  I love them.

And TURTLENECKS!!!  Again, my cold naturedness loves a nice turtleneck.  With a vest layered over the turtleneck with a long necklaces and a headband worn with jeans and my beloved Clarks wallabees I'm ready to take on any chilly casual setting!  Love it :)

Hopefully it won't take me so long to blog again...
